SMILE Director Parker Finn Set To Direct Sequel as He Makes a First Look Deal with Paramount Pictures

Parker Finn, the filmmaker of the 2022 horror hit, Smile, must have a huge smile on his face right now as he has signed a multiyear, first-look deal with Paramount Pictures. The first film that he’ll make under the new deal is, of course, Smile 2.

Parker will also write, direct, and produce a number of horror film features for the studio. Paramount president and CEO Brian Robbins said in a statement: “Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking, and we are thrilled that he will make Paramount his home.”

Paramount’s motion picture group co-presidents Michael Ireland and Daria Cercek added: “Parker knows how to keep people on the edge of their seat and we’re happy that we get to keep scaring audiences together.”

Smile was a fun horror flick, and it was originally supposed to be released on Paramount+, but after extremely positive test screenings, the studio switched up the plan and released it in theaters. Finn said last year: “The audience was screaming at the screen, so it was very clear that the communal environment and nature of it was incredible, and to Paramount’s credit, they recognized that, and they got behind the film in such an amazing way.”

Now, they’re all going to make beautifully horrific films together!
