SNL Timelapse Shows Kate McKinnon Transforming into a Horrific Sea Creature in Under Three Minutes

NBC's late night weekend staple Saturday Night Live is earning its best ratings in years thanks largely in part to Alec Baldwin's continued impression, but let's not give him all the credit. The show has been running smoothly for over forty years now, and since we all just watch it at home, it's easy to take for granted how difficult it must be to transition between scenes just in the time it takes for one commercial break to air.

SNL has released a video timelapse of star Kate McKinnon going from playing Jeff Sessions to playing a hideous mermaid named Shud in that span, and it's impressive how quickly the makeup team completely changes her look in just about four minutes.

On March 11th, 2017, the SNL make-up team had only one commercial break to get Kate McKinnon out of her Jeff Sessions character and into her "Shud the Mermaid" character.
