So, THE FOREVER PURGE Won't Be The Final PURGE Film After All

When The Forever Purge movie was announced, it was made clear that it would be the final film in The Purge franchise. Well, while that was the original plan, that’s no longer the case. Creator James DeMonaco woke up one day and had an idea for a sixth Purge film, and he’s now developing it.

During a recent interview with Dread Central, the filmmaker shared, “Between you and I, man, I really intended for [The Forever Purge] to be the last one ... up until four months ago when I woke up and had an idea for [The Purge] 6. I had this idea … I can flip this thing upside down and we can continue this, maybe, in a way that people can enjoy … I’m actually outlining it right now in between these interviews! If the Movie Gods say, ‘People want to see it,’ then we’ll do it. But I always leave it to the audience to tell us if they want more of it. But we’re ready! I have another one if they want it.”

So, if audiences end up flocking to see The Forever Purge and it makes money, you can bet that Universal Pictures and Blumhouse are going to want to make another one. I knew this next movie wouldn’t be the last one! As long as these films keep making money, DeMonaco and Universal will continue to make these movies.

Producer Jason Blum even previously said, "I'm trying to make him write more. I would never do it without James. I wouldn't hire someone else to do Purge movies, but I'm not through, and I'm going to try and talk him into a few more."

The Forever Purge hits theaters on July 2nd.
