SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY is Confirmed To Have an Homage To WILLOW
Early on in Ron Howard's directing career, he was hired by George Lucas to direct the classic fantasy film, Willow. I love Willow, so I was happy to learn that there is one aspect of Solo: A Star Wars Story that pays homage to the movie.
According to Solo co-writer Jon Kasdan, the Corellian Hounds that will appear in Solo were always meant to be an homage to the Death Dogs of Willow. Here's what he had to say about it in a Tweet:
In a bizarre TWIST OF FATE, these #CorellianHounds, which were in the script from the very first draft, were 100% a loving homage to the DEATH DOGS in @RealRonHoward 's WILLOW, which terrified me as a kid, particularly when they mauled that poor nursemaid. https://t.co/Y0B6X1swW6
