Some Early Rare Concept Art For Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion is Going Up For Auction

Before The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland was The Haunted Mansion, it was being developed as an attraction called Museum of the Weird. Some early and rare concept designs have surfaced from the development of this attraction, which was created by artist Rolly Crump, who helped design some of Disneyland's most iconic attractions.

Van Eaton Galleries has shared this art in a catalog that they have released for an upcoming auction that they are holding for all kinds of rare Disney art and memorabilia. You can look through the whole catalog here, but I included the Haunted Mansion art in this post.

It's really interesting and cool to get a look at what Disney was originally planning for The Haunted Mansion. It definitely would have been a lot weirder, but I love the strange creature designs. In the end, I love what Disney ended up doing with the attraction. The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorites rides at Disneyland!

Some of this art is expected to bring in between $4,000 and $6,000! The auction also includes early scripts for The Haunted Mansion, one of which is from 1957, which is twelve years before the ride even opened!

The auction takes place on April 28th at 11am both online and in person.
