Some of Christian Bale's Favorite Scenes Were Cut From THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER
Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder was unleashed in theaters this weekend and it’s been met with a lot of mixed reactions from fans. While the film definitely had some issues, I did enjoy it and thought it had some very cool and awesome moments. I’m ultimately happy with how it turned out.
Natalie Portman recently talked about the movie with IndieWire and said that there was a ton of great material that was shot for the movie that ended up on the cutting room floor:
"It's just amazing how much great material is not in the film, considering how much great material is in it. Usually, it's like, you're just trying to get enough good stuff to put in the film, and this had overflow. So that was really surprising."
Some of the things we know about being cut include cameos from Peter Dinklage's Eitri and Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster. Now we are learning that a lot of those cut scenes also involve Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher.
In an interview with Collider, Bale shared that some of his favorite scenes as Gorr were cut out of the movie! He said there was an "awful lot" he wished was in the film:
"There's so much gold that's on the cutting room floor, hilarious stuff, and creepy as hell stuff, but that was perhaps pushing it to a realm where maybe it wouldn't have been able to be family-friendly, which we always wanted it to be."
I would love to see more of the creepy stuff! Is there footage that was shot that pushed the R-rating boundaries? One of those scenes involved a terrifying scream that Bale wanted in the movie. He previously talked about that scream here.
I hope that all this footage is eventually released, fans would love to see it! Bale also went on to praise Taika Waititi's work and his humor, saying:
"He's got great sincerity as well. He's a real artist. And so, man, it's moving. That is the bloody surprising thing with this film. It's a very moving film and then two seconds later, you're laughing your a** off."
Have you seen Thor: Love and Thunder yet? If so, what did you think about Bale as Gorr The God Butcher?
