SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 Director Talks About The KNUCKLES Spinoff Series and Says Fans Will Love The Character
A couple of months ago it was announced that on top of a third Sonic The Hedgehog movie, Paramount would also be developing a spinoff film that will focus on Idris Elba’s Knuckles.
Knuckles was introduced in the recently released Sonic The Hedgehog 2. I still haven’t had a chance to watch the film, but a lot of fans seem to have enjoyed the character Knuckles, and it seems like the spinoff might be a big hit. Director Jeff Fowler has recently offered an update on the series in an interview with Discussing Film, and he’s confident that fans are going to love it.
"Oh, it's very early with all of that [the Knuckles series]. One thing I knew after we finished the film, people are going to love this character. They're going to love Idris playing this character and they're going to want more of Knuckles absolutely. So right now, all the focus is just on getting people excited and getting them out to see the sequel. Then, we'll go from there. He's such a wonderful character that there are so many different ways that you can go [in the series] that fans could really get excited by, so that will hopefully all come along very soon. But for now, I'm just so excited to get people to see the sequel."
For those of you who are familiar with the game franchise, you know that Knuckles eventually becomes friends with Sonic and he becomes a hero in his own right. It’ll be interesting to see how they end up playing with that aspect of the character in the series. I’m sure they’ll give him an interesting story arc, as there are a lot of fun elements to play with, and I’m sure fans will be eagerly anticipating the release of the series.
