SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Release Date Pushed Back So Sonic's Look Can Be Properly Fixed

Director Jeff Fowler has confirmed that the release date of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie has been back from November 8th, to February 14th, 2020. As you might imagine, the reason for the push is so that the VFX team has the time to properly fix the look of the character design for Sonic.

Sonic fans were not very happy with the initial look of the character, they protested and shared their hatred for it online, and now Paramount Pictures is going to spend millions more dollars on the film, which will probably still end up being a mediocre movie. Hopefully, the story ends up being better than what the trailer makes it look like it will be.

Here’s the Tweet that Fowler sent out announcing the news:

Here’s the synopsis:

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

The film stars James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. I’m convinced Carrey will be the best part of the film.
