Sony is Developing a Remake of Bruce Willis' 1987 Comedy BLIND DATE Because Studios Don't Like Original Ideas

For some reason, Sony Pictures has decided to develop a remake of the 1987 Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger comedy Blind Date. This was actually Willis' very first feature film and I don't think I've ever seen it! The remake is said to take on the modern world of dating.

The movie will be written by Chris Hazzard and Michael Fontana and it will be produced by Davis Entertainment, the company behind Warner Bros’ Game Night and Fox’s forthcoming release, The Predator. It's crazy to me that they will remake this movie before they produce some great original script that is floating around Hollywood.

Here's the synopsis for the original 1987 film:

When bachelor Walter Davis (Bruce Willis) is set up with his sister-in-law’s pretty cousin, Nadia Gates (Kim Basinger), a seemingly average blind date turns into a chaotic night on the town. Walter’s brother, Ted (Phil Hartman), tells him not to let Nadia drink alcohol, but he dismisses the warning, and her behavior gets increasingly wild. Walter and Nadia’s numerous incidents are made even worse as her former lover David (John Larroquette) relentlessly follows them around town.

I could care less that Blind Date is being remade. I just wish they would have chosen to develop an original film instead.
