Sony Pictures Acquires Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg's True-Life Drama FATHER STU
Sony Pictures has acquired a new film titled Father Stu starring Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson. This is a faith-based movie that was written and directed by Rosalind Ross.
The film tells the true story of “boxer-turned-priest Father Stuart Long and his inspiring journey from self-destruction to redemption.” Wahlberg takes on the role of the title character and he is also joined by Jacki Weaver and Teresa Ruiz.
Wahlberg said in a statement, “Father’s Stu’s journey from troublemaker to clergyman was inspiring to many, including me. Rosey has done an incredible job capturing the essence of who he was and how he affected the people he met. I hope that with this film, we keep his spirit alive and continue his good works.”
Father Stu is the feature directorial debut of Ross, who is reportedly dating Gibson and the movie will hit theaters on Good Friday, April 15th.
