Sony Pictures Has an Official Name For Its Spider-Man Movie Universe and It's Not The Spider-Verse
As you know, Sony Pictures is building their own Marvel movie universe with the Spider-Man characters that they have the rights to. Tom Hardy’s Venom movie launched this universe and that is being followed up with Morbius and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. They’ve got other films in the works as well such as Silver & Black and Kraven the Hunter. Spider-Man will one day appear in this universe.
Lots of fans, like us, have been calling this cinematic universe the Spider-Verse. It’s also been referred to as the SUMC, which stands for Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters. So what is Sony calling it? Well, IGN recently reached out to the studio and received some clarification. The Spider-Man cinematic universe is actually called Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters or SPUMC.
That’s not really a catchy name and they should probably come up with a new one. Do any of you have any suggestions!? I’ll still probably just keep calling it the Spider-Verse.
