Sony Pictures Is Ditching Comic-Con This Year

Another studio has decided to skip Comic-Con this year. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures will not have a presentation this year showing off their upcoming slate of films.

I was actually looking forward to seeing some stuff from Sony, like Zombieland 2: Double Tap, Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot, and Jared Leto’s Morbius: The Living Vampire. Then there were other films like Charlie’s Angels, The Grudge reboot, and it would have been a good place to announce their upcoming slate of Marvel projects. But it’s not gonna happen.

Warner Bros. also decided not to show up this year, which is a big surprise considering they always put on a great presentation! Legendary Pictures bowed out as well. With three big studios ditching Comic-Con this year, it looks like the one big main event will be Marvel Studios.

Is this a sign that Comic-Con is losing its appeal? The studios obviously feel like they don’t need the event to promote their film projects and service the fans.

Are you attending Comic-Con this year? If so, are you bummed out that Sony Pictures has also bowed out of the event?
