Sony Pictures is Now Looking to Buy Fox Which Opens the Possibility of an X-Men and Spider-Man Character Crossover

We already know that Disney Studios was looking at buying 21st Century Fox, which could have been pretty cool. That deal would have opened up the door for Marvel to bring the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, according to the Wall Street Journal, Disney and Fox failed to reach a deal. Now, they are saying that Sony Pictures has "informally approached Fox" about possibly buying up their assets. If that's a deal that actually goes through, then that will open up the possibilities of seeing X-Men characters crossover with Spider-Man characters, which would be pretty cool, but not as cool as what the Disney and Fox deal would have given us.

Sony is one of few other companies looking to buy 21st Century Fox, but what makes companies like Disney and Sony so interesting is the fact that it could impact their Marvel properties. If Sony did buy Fox, I imagine the only character they own the rights to that they couldn't bring over into the X-Men or Fantastic Four universe is Spider-Man because of the deal they previously made with Marvel. All the other characters like Venom would be available, though.

I'll be honest, I'm kinda bummed that Fox and Disney couldn't work out a deal. It would have been amazing to see Marvel Studios get to play with the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters!
