Sony Pictures Making New Movie Version of BEWITCHED Based on Classic TV Series

Sony Pictures has announced that they are yet again making a movie version of the classic TV series Bewitched. The original ABC series ran from 1964-1972 and starred Elizabeth Montgomery as a witch who marries a regular guy and tries to keep her powers a secret despite the hijinks she gets into and her kooky relatives who frequent their home.

Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, who ran the TV series MacGyver and 12 Monkeys, will write the script. Sony made a romcom film version of Bewitched in 2005 which Nora Ephron directed and which starred Nicole Kidman as the witch and Will Ferrell as her hapless husband Darrin. But Deadline reports that Sony is going a different way with this storyline.
