Sony Scares Up a Sequel to GOOSEBUMPS, Wants Jack Black Back

Before last year's live-action Goosebumps movie even hit theaters, we knew that Sony Pictures was interested in a sequel. Now the studio is getting serious about it, as THR reports that the company is closing deals with original director Rob Letterman and writer Darren Lemke to return for Goosebumps 2Jack Black, who played Goosebumps author R.L. Stine in the first film, is expected to return, though that deal apparently hasn't gone through yet.

I never saw the first movie, but plenty of people did: it earned nearly $157 million on a $58 million budget, which is enough for Sony — a studio that currently doesn't have many franchises to its name — to try to capitalize on the mixture of family-friendly and scary content and turn this into a full-fledged movie series. They better watch out, though: those bumps gonna goose ya.
