Sony Sets Release Dates For Two BAD BOYS Sequels, THE DARK TOWER, and More
Bad Boys II came out back in 2003, and ever since, whispers and rumors about a third movie have popped up every few years. Now the franchise has just received a huge shot in the arm, as Sony has set not one but two sequels for release over the next couple of years.
Bad Boys 3 is set for February 17th, 2017, while Bad Boys 4 will arrive a little more than two years later on July 3rd, 2019.
It doesn't seem like director Michael Bay will be returning, and last we heard, The Grey and The A-Team director Joe Carnahan was in talks to rewrite the script and possibly direct the third film, but it's unclear whether he's still on board. I suppose there's a chance the studio could give him the directing jobs on both sequels up front, so he can create more of a through line for the larger story, but we'll have to see how it all shakes out. Martin Lawrence is certainly down to reprise his role (he was hyping the possibility of a third film months ago), and we have to assume Will Smith is coming back, otherwise they'd probably just abandon this film series altogether.
Meanwhile, the studio has set a ton of other release dates for projects like The Dark Tower, the Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence sci-fi film Passengers, Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, Uncharted, and many more. Check out the full list of dates below, thanks to The Wrap:
