Sony's Live-Action CINDERELLA Has Added More Big Names to its Cast Including James Corden, John Mulaney, and Possibly Missy Elliott
The star power is getting stronger in Sony’s upcoming retelling of the classic tale of Cinderella. We previously reported that singer Camila Cabello would portray the title character, with Idina Menzel playing the Stepmother, Pierce Brosnan as the King, Minnie Driver as the Queen, and Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Robert. Billy Porter also has an undisclosed role in the film, which is being described as “a musical comedy that re-imagines the traditional Cinderella story in which our heroine is an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow.”
The new names on board include James Corden, who is also producing, and comedians John Mulaney and Romesh Ranganathan. The three will play the helpful mice who are friends and assistants to Cinderella in her times of need. This is such great casting! And rapper Missy Elliott is currently in talks to join the cast as well; rumor has it she will play a town crier. I was uncertain about this remake at first, but they have some serious talent on board, and we haven’t had a musical version of the film in a long time, so I’m excited.
Cinderella is currently in pre-production and is expected in theaters in just under a year, on February 5, 2021.
