Sony's Upcoming Marvel Film MORBIUS Gets a New Release Date
Sony Pictures has decided to push the release date of its Marvel movie Morbius from March 19th, 2021 to October 8th, 2021. Seems like a good move to release the vampire horror-themed film to the Halloween season.
I imagine we’ll be seeing the release of more and more films get pushed back as it seems like there is still no end to this pandemic in sight.
Jared Leto takes on the role of Morbius, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, "a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength — and fought Spider-Man. Over time, however, he became a slightly heroic figure in his own right and even headlined his own comic book titles.”
Leto is joined by Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Terror) in the film along with Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising) as play Martine Bancroft, who was engaged to Morbius before he accidentally turned himself into a vampire. She ends up becoming a potential victim as Morbius learns to cope with his insatiable bloodlust. Matt Smith is also in the film and plays Loxias Crown.
The movie was directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Life) from a script that was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space).
