Sophie Turner Says The GAME OF THRONES Finale Will Disappoint Some Fans and Excite Others

Like the rest of you Game of Thrones fans, I can’t wait to see how the epic journey in this brutal fantasy world comes to an end. When that end comes, will the fans be happy with its conclusion or will they be happy? According to star Sophie Turner, she thinks it’s going to be a little bit of both. The finale of the series could very well divide fans. While talking to IGN, she said:

“As an actor it was really satisfying. I think for everyone, everyone’s storylines — to be able to act out the way that it all ends. It was really satisfying for us. Who knows if it will be satisfying for the fans. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think. I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions, but for me reading the script it was just like heartbreaking to read at the very final page of the script it just says, ‘End of Game of Thrones’. That was really emotional.”

I know you can’t make everyone happy, but it is going to be interesting to see how the the series ends and how everyone reacts that that ending. Turner also went on to talk about where her character Sansa is headed in the upcoming final season:

“She kind of takes ownership over who she is and what she stands for. Over the course of the series she’s been completely unaware of what she wants, where she wants to be, who she really is, and at the end of this season, I feel she is the most self-assured character in the show.”

There are only six episodes left in the series it will premiere in 2019, but that won’t be the end. HBO is already developing a new series set in Westeros that will be set 1000 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

The project chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. A logline from the network teased the plot without divulging any specifics: “Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

So, even though Game of Thrones is ending, we are are still going to get to go back to the world of Westeros for a whole new story.
