Hugh Laurie's Space Comedy Series AVENUE 5 Has Been Ordered by HBO

HBO has ordered a new comedy series by creator Armando Iannucci, who also created Veep, that will take place 40 years in the future, when space tourism is all the rage.

The series will star Hugh Laurie (House) as the Space Captain Ryan Clark, of the Avenue 5, as well as the hilarious Josh Gad (Frozen, Beauty and the Beast) and Zach Woods (The Office, Playing House). The cast will also include Nikki Amuka-Bird (Gold Digger), Rebecca Front (Inspector Lewis), Lenora Crichlow (Being Human), Suzy Nakamura (The Goldbergs, Dr. Ken), and Ethan Phillips (Star Trek: Voyager).

Now that Veep is in its last season, it’s kind of perfect that fans will have a new comedy series by the same creator. The cast is solid and has a great record in comedy. I am excited to see this series when it starts. Avenue 5 is currently in pre-production, but we will let you know when we get a trailer and release date.
