SPEED DEMON Trailer Unleashes William H. Macy in a Wild Exorcism-on-a-Train Horror Ride

There’s a new B-movie horror rolling down the tracks, and it’s bringing demons along for the ride. Maverick Films and Complex Corp have dropped the trailer for Speed Demon, a high-concept thriller that throws an exorcism into the middle of a runaway train scenario.

It’s directed by Jon Keeyes, and while the premise sounds like something that should lean into comedy, this one plays it straight.

In the film, a high-speed train traveling from Montreal to New York City becomes ground zero for a demonic takeover. The chaos comes from a single passenger infected by a powerful entity, and the idea of an exorcism happening mid-journey on a train while everything is spiraling out of control gives this thing a fun, chaotic edge.

The film stars William H. Macy as Father Novak and Katie Cassidy as Sister Lu. Their characters board the train expecting a routine trip, but things go sideways fast when a demon named Asmodeus starts wreaking havoc.

What follows is a desperate fight for survival as the train barrels forward and more passengers fall under the demon’s influence. Sister Lu, who’s struggling with her faith, is suddenly forced into a situation she never expected, performing what’s described as the first exorcism carried out by a nun.

Keeyes, who’s built a career crafting gritty genre flicks like Living & Dying, Doom Room, and The Harrowing, seems right at home with this kind of pulpy concept. The script comes from Domenico Salvaggio.

Even though the concept is a little ridiculous, the trailer actually makes it look like a fun horror ride. There’s tension, some creepy imagery, and a sense that the filmmakers are fully committed to the idea.

Speed Demon hits select theaters and VOD on May 31st, 2026.
