SPIDER-MAN 2 Actor Alfred Molina Will Play Mister Freeze in DC's HARLEY QUINN Animated Series
Alfred Molina, the actor who fantastically played Dr. Otto Octavius in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 has joined the voice cast of the second season of DC’s Harley Quinn animated series. He will be taking on the role of Mister Freeze, which is pretty freakin’ rad!
Just yesterday it was announced that Season 2 of the series was going to be dropping on DC Universe on April 3rd, which was a hell of a lot sooner than the fans expected Season 2 to drop. Hell, we didn’t even know if we were going to get a second season!
The Molina casting news came from an episode of the DC Universe talk show DC Daily, which is where the producers, Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern, also revealed that Family Guy veteran Sanaa Lathan has also joined the cast as Catwoman, who will have a reoccurring role. When talking about Season 2, Shchumacker explained:
"Harley has a target on her back. The male supervillains from Batman’s rogues gallery don't take too kindly to the ascendancy of the female supervillain, and begin to conspire against her. I think that's about all we can say, but you will see a lot more villains from Gotham."
Halpern added that Harley and Ivy’s love life will also play a big part of Season 2:
"We will dive into Harley's love life as well as Ivy's love life. That will be a big part of the second season."
Mister Freeze is a Batman villain that has one of the most beautifully heartwrenching backstories and I’m curious to know how the character will be handled in this insane animated series. Regardless of what they do, I’m happy that Molina is the guy who will be bringing the character to life! It’s a great role for him!
