SPIDER-MAN 2 Developers Wanted to Tell One of the Best Venom Stories Ever and They Tease a Spinoff

It seems like fans have been enjoying the hell out of Marvel's recently released Spider-Man 2! When the creative team set out to make this game, one of the things that wanted to do was to "one of the best Venom stories you've ever experienced." Now, I haven’t played through the whole game yet, but so far I have loved the story that the game is telling! It’s also explained that this could set up a spinoff!

In an interview with Insider, Spider-Man 2's senior narrative director, Jon Paquette, talked about the hopes for the sequel explaining: "I want this to be one of the best Venom stories you've ever experienced."

There are a lot of great Venom stories that have been developed in the comics, but the Venom movies… no. The film’s Venom stories are incredibly weak compared to what came before them.

Insomniac already has a lot of competition, since the character was first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man comics back in the ‘80s. Since then, we've seen the symbiote in several places, including movies and cartoon series.

Paquette also teased the possibility of another Spider-Man spinoff game saying: "So, here's what we're doing, we're focused on Spider-Man 2, and what we're gonna do is we're gonna wait to see how the fans react. We're going to listen to the fans and we're gonna ask ourselves 'Okay, what do the fans really want?"

Paquette then adds: "We'll kind of talk about stuff after we've all had time to sleep and take vacations." So, basically, if the fans love what they’ve done with Venom’s story in this game, we’ll most likely get that Venom spinoff game, which would be cool!

In Spider-Man 2, Venom is voiced by horror actor Tony Todd (Candyman), and he’s awesome as Venom!

In the game: “The Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, enter new chapters in their lives as they balance their responsibilities as protectors of Marvel’s New York. As Harry Osborne, Peter’s best friend, returns into his life, and Miles looks to build his future beyond high school, the relationship between our heroes is tested and strained as the Symbiote appears to threaten them, the city, and the ones they love.”
