SPIDER-MAN 4 Rumored to See the Superhero Leaving Peter Parker Behind and Focusing on His Super Persona
Little is known about the fourth film in Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise. Where we left off in Spider-Man: No Way Home, our Peter Parker had gone to Doctor Strange to reverse the effects of the villainous Mysterio in Far From Home, who revealed Parker’s identity. But the spell opened up the multiverse, and unleashed other Peter Parkers as well as other Spider-Man villains to battle. The only way in the end to fix the bigger problem created was to erase the world’s memory of Peter, leaving our hero totally alone in the world.
So it’s a natural assumption that the next film will see Peter completely changed. We saw him in the depths of his despair in the final moments of the third film, and hopefully he will be coming out of that, but he will definitely be a new guy. That’s what some new rumors about the film have addressed.
According to The Cosmic Circus (via CBM), Spider-Man 4 will see Peter Parker stepping fully into Spider-Man, and leaving Peter behind. The site explains:
"The idea now moving forward is to give him a sense of independence. In his mind, Peter Parker is no more...but Spider-Man lives on. Since he has either lost or detached himself from everyone he’s ever loved, all he has to keep him going is being Spider-Man, whether the city loves him for it or not. And as the title of Spider-Man continues to consume Peter’s life little by little, Peter Parker will take a back seat and continue to fade from existence slowly. This story point can be compared to Robert Pattinson’s Batman in The Batman."
There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Spider-Man 4, but this rumor sounds like a solid hunch. Other rumors include plans for the hero to team up with Daredevil (and potentially Ant-Man) for a battle with The Kingpin.
Fans and the studio have also pointed to hoping for a Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reunion again as well, so that’s a possibility. Miles Morales is also expected to make his MCU debut, and Drew Goddard has emerged as the frontrunner to direct the movie in place of Jon Watts.
What do you hope to see happen with Spider-Man in the fourth film?
