Spider-Man Actor Tom Holland to Star in WWII Film BENEATH A SCARLET SKY

Tom Holland is definitely one of my new favorite actors. I remember he arrived just around the time another one of my favorite actors passed. Anton Yelchin. Both had a youthful innocence and were just so damn likable. Yelchin's death was very hard for me because I thought that there just aren't any other actors like him around, and then Holland showed up and filled the Yelchin gap. Not replacing Yelchin, but at least making me feel like there is one youthful and charming male actor out there to play roles I enjoy.

It was just announced recently that Tom Holland will be in the film adaptation of Beneath the Scarlet Sky. Spider-Man: Homecoming producer, Amy Pascal, recently picked up the rights to it and is Holland will play the lead.

The story is set during World War II and follows a young Italian boy who helps a lot Jews escape from Nazis. Things take an interesting turn when he is drafted into the German army. To make the best out of the situation, he tries to do what he can against the Nazis in secret. It's based on the true story of Pino Lella and is sure to be a huge Oscar contender in the upcoming future. As long as Holland is attached, I'm totally willing to give it a look. He's one of those that just can't do wrong for me right now.

Here's the full description of the story from the book:

Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian teenager—obsessed with music, food, and girls—but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior.
In an attempt to protect him, Pino’s parents force him to enlist as a German soldier—a move they think will keep him out of combat. But after Pino is injured, he is recruited at the tender age of eighteen to become the personal driver for Adolf Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers, one of the Third Reich’s most mysterious and powerful commanders.
Now, with the opportunity to spy for the Allies inside the German High Command, Pino endures the horrors of the war and the Nazi occupation by fighting in secret, his courage bolstered by his love for Anna and for the life he dreams they will one day share.
