SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Artist Reveals the Wildly Detailed Easter Eggs Hidden in Peter Parker’s Wallet
There are Marvel Easter eggs, and then there’s the stuff most moviegoers were probably never supposed to see.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day production designer Will Dixon has shared a fantastic look at Peter Parker’s wallet.
It turns out the production team didn’t simply stuff it with generic cards and call it a day.
Every little piece was designed around Peter’s history, with references to Matt Murdock, Aunt May, and even one of Spider-Man’s old comic book hangouts.
Dixon explained on X why a prop that spends most of its life in someone’s pocket still needs this much attention:
“You never know if a wallet will get a close up, so you have to create dressing related to the character.”
That approach resulted in a wallet packed with some seriously fun Spider-Man Easter eggs.
One of the coolest is a business card for “Nelson, Murdock, Page: Attorneys At Law,” connecting Peter back to Matt Murdock and the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Dixon even came up with his own explanation for why Peter would still be carrying it around, saying he “imagined Matt would’ve given him one during No Way Home and Peter would’ve held onto it”
It’s a tiny detail, but it makes sense for Peter, especially after everything he went through in No Way Home.
The wallet also contains a loyalty card for The Coffee Bean, a longtime Spider-Man hangout from Marvel Comics.
That’s exactly the kind of deep-cut reference comic book fans love finding buried inside these movies.
There’s also a F.E.A.S.T. card, which carries a much more personal connection to Peter.
The organization is closely associated with Aunt May, and Dixon explained that he’d “like to imagine Peter would’ve held onto that to remember Aunt May”
The prop department didn’t stop there. Peter is also carrying a bagel shop card, and Dixon’s photos offer a peek at Peter Parker’s driving licence.
These are incredibly small pieces of production design, but together they help make Peter’s world feel like an actual lived-in place rather than a collection of sets and superhero props.
Marvel fans were understandably into it once Dixon shared the details online. One fan wished the wallet had received some screen time:
“This would’ve been such a cute nod I wish all this would’ve gotten a close up.”
Another praised just how much work went into details audiences might never consciously notice:
“I really do admire the amount of heart as well as creativity that were put into every corner of this movie.”
That’s what makes this stuff so much fun. None of these Spider-Man Easter eggs needed to exist for the story to work, and there was always a chance the camera would never get close enough for audiences to read them.
The production team made them anyway because they belonged in Peter Parker’s world.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day dominating the box office and breaking records for Marvel, fans have plenty to talk about, but it’s cool to see some attention going toward the ridiculously detailed production work tucked into the movie.
Peter Parker may not have much cash, but apparently his wallet is loaded with Marvel history.
