SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Launches Wild 24-Hour Trailer Event as First Footage Drops Online

Marvel and Sony are rolling out something unusual for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and some fans are sure to find it annoying.

Instead of a standard trailer drop, the studio is handing control over to fans for a full day, letting Spider-Man-focused accounts slowly reveal pieces of the first trailer across social media.

It’s a strange move, maybe even a frustrating one depending on your patience level, but it’s definitely got people watching closely.

The 24-hour rollout kicked off on March 17, with different Instagram accounts passing along short clips like a digital relay race. The full trailer is set to land on tomorrow March 18, but until then, fans will be piecing things together one fragment at a time.

Tom Holland addressed the rollout in a video message, making it clear this is meant as a thank-you to the fanbase:

"We are working on something incredibly exciting for the release of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, We have had so much love and support since day dot of making these movies. Without that incredible community, there would be no Spider-Man."

He continued, “To show you our appreciation, we are doing something that has never been done before."

That “never been done before” approach is exactly what’s happening here. Instead of one big reveal, it’s a slow drip controlled by the community itself. Whether that’s genius or just a chaotic marketing experiment is up for debate.

So far, two clips have surfaced. The first recreates the iconic cover of Amazing Fantasy #15, showing Spidey swinging through the city while carrying a civilian to safety. It’s a clean, nostalgic image that taps directly into the character’s roots.

The second clip shows a shaken Peter Parker, hinting that things aren’t exactly smooth for him in this next chapter.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, pulls Peter into a collision course with the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, which alone suggests this story could lean into darker territory than previous entries. The cast also includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, and Mark Ruffalo.

A full trailer leaked back in December before getting wiped from the internet almost immediately. Now, Marvel is taking control of the narrative in a very different way.

Whether this rollout ends up feeling exciting or exhausting, it’s definitely grabbing attention and sparking conversation. I guess they’re trying to outdo the ridiculousness of the Avengers: Doomsday casting reveal.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, and by this time tomorrow, we’ll finally see what all the buildup was leading to.

I’ll keep updating this page.
