SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Rumor Claims Sarah Grey Is Still Alive in the MCU

It looks like Sarah Grey might not be dead after all! A new rumor suggests that the character's story in Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day isn't finished, despite the movie giving fans plenty of reasons to believe she'd met a tragic end.

The latest claim comes from Hollywood scooper My Time to Shine Hello, who recently shared a video edit on X featuring Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Olivia Booth-Ford as her sister, Sarah Grey. The edit also included footage from Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.

The scooper accompanied the video with a pretty straightforward message: “Sarah will be back. She’s ALIVE.”

That's certainly an interesting claim, especially considering what happened to Sarah in the film. However, Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed that the character survived, so this remains a rumor for now.

In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sarah is captured by Damage Control soldiers, who tranquilize her and transport her to a detention facility. Once there, Bill Metzger and his team of scientists begin experimenting on her in an attempt to replicate her telepathic abilities.

Things take a particularly heartbreaking turn when Jean is detained by Damage Control and discovers the V-Max logo she's been searching for throughout the movie.

Unfortunately, the logo turns out to be on a vent inside the facility, leading Jean to realize what may have happened to her sister. “The last thing my sister saw was this goddamn room.”

It's a pretty devastating moment that strongly suggests Sarah died during Metzger's experiments. It also raises the possibility that Sarah used her telepathic powers to send Jean one final clue about her location.

But, we never actually see Sarah's body. That leaves Marvel with an opportunity to reveal that she survived her ordeal, potentially bringing Booth-Ford back for another MCU appearance.

Of course, Sarah's apparent death also serves an important purpose in Jean Grey's story. Her sister's fate gives Jean a personal tragedy that could influence her development as she becomes a bigger part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel might ultimately decide that keeping Sarah dead is the better choice for Jean's character arc. Bringing her back could change the emotional impact of what happened in Brand New Day.

The fourth Spider-Man movie, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sink, and Jon Bernthal, arrived in theaters on July 31 and became a massive box-office hit, breaking multiple records along the way.

With Jean Grey now part of the MCU, there are plenty of interesting directions Marvel could take her story, and Sarah's possible survival could play into those plans.

For now, we'll have to see whether MTTSH's claim turns out to be accurate.
