SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Rumor Teases a Wild Villain Lineup with a Deep-Cut Surprise
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still shrouded in mystery, but the latest rumor swirling around the web has fans buzzing with theories and excitement.
A new report hints that Tom Holland’s next big screen outing as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man could pack a serious rogues’ gallery, featuring not just Scorpion, played by Michael Mando, but five other villains including the unexpected deep-cut character Ramrod.
According to trusted industry scooper Daniel Richtman, Brand New Day is aiming to up the stakes with a lineup of iconic comic-book villains. Richtman posted on X:
“Some of the villains in Spider-Man Brand New Day are Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, Scorpion and…Ramrod.”
Ramrod isn't exactly a household name, but fans of the comics know he's a brute with a steel frame and attitude to match. Pairing him with guys like Tombstone, Tarantula, and Boomerang could be a very fun and interesting dynamic.
These are still just rumors as Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed any of these villains officially, but it’d be interesting to see these characters pop up!
Feige previously talked about this next chapter of Spider-Man, saying:
“I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”
Feige also teased the film’s tone and visual inspirations, revealing that director Destin Daniel Cretton is pulling directly from the comics.
“He’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently in production and stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Mando’s Scorpion hasn’t been seen since Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, so his return is already fueling speculation about how this rogues' team might form.
If the rumors prove true, Brand New Day could deliver the most villain-packed Spider-Man film yet.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31, 2026.
