SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Rumored To Unleash a Wave of New Villains and a Wild MCU Twist
The rumor mill around Spider-Man: Brand New Day to spin its web, and if the latest report pans out, Peter Parker is about to have a seriously rough stretch in the MCU.
The upcoming sequel is shaping up to be villain-heavy, packed with deep-cut comic baddies, and capped off with what insiders are teasing as a “crazy twist” that could shake things up in a big way.
We’ve already heard that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will go toe-to-toe with Tombstone and Scorpion, with rumors also pointing to The Hand lurking somewhere in the shadows.
On top of that, word is the movie opens with a montage of Spidey doing what he does best, cleaning up the streets and knocking out a string of lesser-known threats. It sounds like a fun way to reestablish Peter after everything he’s lost.
Earlier rumors brought up Tarantula and Boomerang, and now the list is getting even deeper. Insider @Cryptic4KQual claims that 8-Ball and The Jackal, also known as Miles Warren, will make their MCU debuts.
Daniel Richtman is backing that up with word that The Enforcers are also involved in some form. For longtime fans, that’s a cool pull. Montana, Fancy Dan, and the Ox go all the way back to Spider-Man’s earliest comic book days, and seeing them finally pop up on screen would be a fun nod to Spidey history.
There’s also an interesting casting wrinkle. Cryptic reports that Sadie Sink’s sister, Jacey Sink, has a small role in the film. That lines up with another recent rumor suggesting Jean Grey’s older sister Sara could appear.
Supposedly, Sara’s death triggers a Damage Control investigation into Jean, which opens the door to some big mutant-related implications down the road. If that’s true, Brand New Day might be doing more than just telling a Spider-Man story.
Adding even more intrigue, MTTSH says the movie includes a “crazy twist.” No details yet, but there’s been talk that Sink’s character won’t be immediately identifiable. If she is playing Jean Grey, it’s possible the reveal doesn’t come until late in the film.
The cast is already loaded. Alongside Holland, Zendaya returns as MJ and Jacob Batalon is back as Ned Leeds. The supporting lineup includes Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Michael Mando reprising Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone. There’s also word that Florence Pugh will pop in for a Yelena Belova cameo.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton shared his excitement for where the story is heading, saying, “I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world. We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before”.
Holland echoed that energy while talking about suiting up again. “It's day one — my fourth-ever day one on Spider-Man. You know, it's funny. Putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow.
“It's also the first time we've ever had fans on set for day one, so it's really exciting to share this with them. We've got some familiar faces on set. You know, Im just going to do my best, hopefully get it right. No pressure.”
One final bit of housekeeping. The release date for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has shifted slightly, moving from July 24, 2026 to July 31, 2026. A small delay, but if it delivers on this mix of classic villains, MCU debuts, and unexpected twists, the wait could be more than worth it.
