SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Star Zendaya Warns Fans to "Bring Some Tissues" as Emotional Story Details Emerge
Sony Pictures finally unveiled a new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day this week, giving fans another look at Peter Parker's next chapter in the MCU.
While the footage delivered plenty of action and intrigue, some of the movie's stars may have revealed something even more interesting during the promotional tour.
According to Zendaya, audiences might want to prepare themselves for an emotional ride. While speaking with Q Music, the actress, who returns as MJ, was asked what fans should do to get ready for the highly anticipated Spider-Man sequel.
She replied: “I would say watch all of our previous Spider-Man [movies] just to keep you caught up, and then bring some tissues... we go there.”
That's certainly an interesting tease. Of course, emotional moments don't automatically mean a major death is on the horizon.
The Spider-Man franchise has always balanced superhero spectacle with heartfelt character-driven storytelling, and Peter's complicated relationship with MJ and Ned remains one of the biggest unresolved threads following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Still, it's hard not to speculate. Marvel fans are already throwing around theories about who might not make it through the movie.
One rumor that's been circulating suggests that Peter Parker himself could die at the end of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, only to eventually return alongside other fallen heroes in Avengers: Secret Wars. At this point, that's firmly in rumor territory.
As for whether Spider-Man will even show up in the next Avengers movies, Tom Holland isn't saying much. Holland was previously asked about potentially returning for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Unsurprisingly, Marvel Studios appears to be keeping those details under lock and key.
"I don't know much about those movies. By nature, I have a reputation for spoiling certain things, and the studio is keeping the juicy details from me, but I'm very curious. What does that mean for Peter? How does that work? I think it's really cool. I'm very excited."
Even if Holland doesn't know where Peter's story goes after Brand New Day, it sounds like he's just as eager as fans are to see how Spider-Man fits into the MCU's next major crossover events.
The actor also shared a fun story about learning that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to Marvel, this time as Doctor Doom.
"I think I hung up and said to Zendaya, 'Downey's back.' Yes, he just called me. In fact, I caught up with him on the phone a couple of days ago. We usually catch up from time to time. He got in touch and just told me. And it's very exciting."
For now, the biggest takeaway from the latest round of interviews is that Spider-Man: Brand New Day sounds like it's going to hit audiences right in the feels.
Between Peter's lonely new reality after No Way Home, his fractured relationships with the people he cares about most, and Zendaya's warning to pack tissues, it seems this movie won't just be about web-slinging action.
It may end up being Peter Parker's most emotional adventure yet.
