SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY's Three Villains Reportedly Revealed, Including Scorpion
Some possible new details have surfaced for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and they came from the floor of a corporate presentation in Las Vegas.
According to a post by Instagram user Chris Higashi, Disney may have dropped major reveals about the film during its Blockbuster Consumer Products event. And if what he saw holds true, Spidey is about to face off with a trio of villains fans have been waiting years to see on the big screen.
Higashi, who appears to be a legitimate attendee rather than a scoop-hunting fan account, described seeing promo art or a sizzle reel confirming that Brand New Day will feature The Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone.
Scorpion is a character longtime fans have been craving ever since Mac Gargan (played by Michael Mando) was briefly introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming. As for Boomerang and Tombstone, this would mark their first-ever live-action appearance.
Tombstone, aka Lonnie Lincoln, is a towering, albino hitman and enforcer with superhuman strength and durability. A longtime enemy of Spider-Man, he’s known for his brutal tactics and ties to New York’s criminal underworld.
Boomerang, aka Fred Myers, is a former baseball pitcher turned high-tech mercenary. Armed with an arsenal of trick boomerangs including explosive and razor-sharp variants. He’s got big ambitions and a knack for bad luck. While he’s fought Spider-Man plenty of times, Boomerang has also had a redemption arc in recent comics, even becoming Peter Parker’s unlikely roommate and reluctant friend.
It’s worth noting that this event also quietly introduced Disney’s new Formula 1 collaboration and confirmed Conan O’Brien’s role in Toy Story 5. So there’s precedent for real news coming out of this event before any official press release hits.
There was also a promo shown for Avengers: Doomsday and it reportedly featured Alex Ross’s Doctor Doom artwork, which makes sense considering Marvel probably isn’t ready to unveil Robert Downey Jr.
As for Brand New Day, it’s may be shaping up to be something more grounded. A classic Peter Parker up-against-the-wall story featuring gangsters, thugs, and high-tech baddies would be a refreshing shift from reality-breaking shenanigans.
The film is being directed by Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton, with a script from No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31, 2026.
