Spider-Man Directors Sam Raimi and Marc Webb Were Consulted for SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME

A new report has surfaced from The Cosmic Circus regarding the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. It turns out the production team went to previous Spider-Man film directors Sam Raimi and Marc Webb and brought them in to consult on the film to help in completing the backstories of the characters they played with in their films for this one.

It’s also said that to two filmmakers consulted in telling how both Spider-Man 3 's Sandman and The Amazing Spider-Man 's Lizard died off-screen in the time following the events in their films. This bit of information helps clear up Doctor Strange’s comment in the trailer for the film that all the villains being included in No Way Home died while fighting Spider-Man., especially since we never saw Sandman and Lizard killed by Spider-Man.

So, it seems to me like we’ll find out what the fates of these characters were in the alternate Spider-Man universe. This will also further explain Doc Ock's description of them in the trailer as "ghosts."

As you know, fans are expecting Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to show up in the film as well. If that actually ends up being the case, it seems like we’ll also get backstories on what happened to their versions of Spider-Man after their film franchises came to an end, which will be interesting for fans to learn!

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, “our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

The movie stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Flash, and Hannibal Buress as Coach Wilson.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
