SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Writer Says it’s “Certainly Possible” Some MCU Characters are Secretly Skrulls

The very end of Spider-Man: Far From Home opened up a whole new aspect of the MCU that could lead to some big and fun storylines. If you haven’t watched the film yet, I’m going to throw up a Spoiler Warning for you before I dive into this.

The very last post credits scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home revealed that the real Nick Fury was on a space station with the Skrulls, while the Skrull Talos was impersonating Fury on Earth, while trying to stop The Elementals with Mysterio and Spider-Man. 

We also learned that there are Skrull sleeper cells on Earth. This has a lot of fans wondering if some of the characters that already exist in the MCU could end up being Skrulls. Well, according to Far From Home co-writer Erik Sommers, this is certainly possible! When asked about this in an interview with THR, Sommers said:

“It’s certainly possible. We didn’t write anything in specifically and we have not personally planned anything out, but I think it certainly opens up a world of possibilities that is very exciting.”

The question is, will Marvel actually play with this idea? I personally think that they will at some point. The end of Far From Home definitely planted some seeds for some kind of version of the classic Secret Invasion comic book storyline. It definitely won’t tell that exact story, but it’s not hard to think that there will lead to something heavily inspired by it.
