SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Almost Featured Another Popular Marvel Superhero
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is full of great and fun characters and they were all handled perfectly. But, another popular marvel superhero character almost popped up in the film.
According to producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, there was an early draft of the script that included a surprise appearance from Doctor Strange! Lord confirmed, "The first draft ended with [Strange].”
He went on to reveal how the scene with Strange would have played out:
"It ended with him saying, 'Okay, I have some things to tell you,' It was the first draft, like three years ago. It ended with Doctor Strange. Literally, the last frame was Doctor Strange, going, 'Hello.'"
That would have been pretty awesome! After watching the movie, it’s not hard to see how Strange would have fit into the story with the whole multiverse aspect of the story. It would have also set up an interesting sequel!
There’s no information on why they didn’t ultimately use Doctor Strange, but maybe it was a rights issue. Regardless, I loved how the movie ended.
Spider-Man and Doctor Strange got to meet for the first time in the MCU in Avengers: Infinity War and even got to work together a little bit before disintegrating into ash.
I loved the relationship that these two characters shared in the comics and I really do hope that one day we get to see a focused team-up of the two characters on the big screen.
Would you have liked to see Doctor Strange pop up in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse? The movie comes out this weekend and you don’t want to miss it!
