SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Characters Could Get Their Own Animated Spinoff Shows
With the success of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and the film being hailed as one of the best superhero movies ever made, it’s not surprising that Sony Pictures is looking for ways to expand the franchise and the world they created for it.
A sequel has already been announced along with a spin-off film that will focus on several female characters. We also know that the creative team wants to eventually make a Spider-Ham spinoff. I’m sure there are a lot of other things that are being planned right now that haven’t been officially announced yet.
The New York Times sheds some light on one of the the other things the studio is currently considering. Apparently they are looking to produce a series of “animated television shows based on characters introduced in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which has collected $276 million at the box office."
This means that Spider-Ham, Penny Parker, Spider-Man Noir and more could get their own spinoff shows in their own distinct style! This would actually be pretty freakin’ cool.
The only way it would properly work, though, is if they brought the same level of quality of the film to these TV shows. I would hate to see anything less. These shows would need to have the top quality feel both visually and creatively, meaning the story and writer also need to be top notch.
If Sony moves forward with this idea, they better go all out on it. While we wait to see if this is something that will actually happen or not, what do you think about this idea? Which characters would you like to see explored in a spinoff series?
