SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Producers Tease The Arrival of Silk For The Sequel
It’s safe to say that the upcoming highly-anticipated sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is going to feature a good amount of new Spider-Man characters. That’s all part of the fun of being able to make a sequel!
We’ve got a long way to go before we actually see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, but producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller dropped a cool little tease on social media that is sure to get fans excited. It strongly hints that the sequel will introduce the fan-favorite Marvel Spider-Man character, Silk!
Lord sets up the reveal and then Miller dropped the payoff. You can check it about below:
Obviously, there are no details given as to how Silk will play into the story. We don’t even really know what exactly the story for the sequel will even tell! But, it will be fun to see Silk in it!
In the comics, Silk a.k.a. Cindy Moon, is a Korean American who was bitten by the same spider that originally turned Peter Parker into Spider-Man. She has several abilities similar to Spider-Man, but she is faster than Spider-Man. Her Spider-Sense is on a higher level, her web powers are organic, unlike Spidey’s.
The Spider-Verse sequel is being directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, who previously worked on shows such as Avatar: The Last Airbender and Voltron: Legendary Defender. David Callaham (The Expendables, Wonder Woman 1984) is writing the script.
It has been said that the story will be set two years after the events of the first film. It has also been reported that Gwen Stacy will be involved. I’ve been hoping that this next story will be inspired by the comic book story arc for Spider-Man/Spider-Gwen Sitting in a Tree. That story follows Miles as he is sent to Spider Gwen’s universe to save his dad. This is where the relationship between the two characters really blossoms. Here’s the description of that story:
