SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Has an Epic Opening Weekend and Tom Holland Responds

Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home had an epic box office opening weekend! It was great to be back in a theaters filled with Marvel fans as they laughed, cheered, and cried during the movie. I’ve seen the movie three times already, and every time I see it, it’s just as awesome at the first time I saw it.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has had one of the biggest opening weekend of all time as it brought in $587.2 million worldwide. This makes the movie the third-highest opening weekend ever. The other two films ahead of it include Avengers: Endgame with $1.2 billion and Avengers: Infinity War with $640 million. I also want to note that those two films opened in China, and No Way Home has yet to get a release date in China.

It’s awesome to see fans so excited about going to the movies again, and they are obviously loving what Marvel and Sony delivered. They movie is excellent and it deserves all of the love that it’s getting.

Tom Holland responded to the success on Instagram saying, “Wow, guys I can't believe these numbers. You made this possible. Your love and support means the world to me. Thank you thank you thank you and if you haven't seen Spider-Man no way home yet... merry Christmas and you know what to do ♥️.”

That message comes along with a fun compilation video from the movie's premiere. You can check that out below.

Tom Rothman, Sony’s Motion Picture Group chairman and CEO added, “This weekend’s historic Spider-Man: No Way Home results, from all over the world and in the face of many challenges, reaffirm the unmatched cultural impact that exclusive theatrical films can have when they are made and marketed with vision and resolve. All of us at Sony Pictures, are deeply grateful to the fabulous talent, both in front of and behind the camera, that produced such a landmark film. Thanks to their brilliant work, this Christmas everyone can enjoy the big screen gift of 2021’s mightiest Super Hero — your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.”

Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX went on to say, “Spider-Man: No Way Home is an exclamation point on the comeback we’ve seen at the box office in 2021, and an emphatic reminder of the unique power of the theatrical experience — especially Imax — to unite audiences worldwide in a global event. With these historic results, IMAX continues to see blockbuster releases generate box office at or exceeding pre-pandemic levels — which is very encouraging heading into a fantastic 2022 slate.”

Yeah, with as much money as these Spider-Man movies have brought in, there’s no way that Sony Pictures is going to stop making Spider-Man movies with Marvel!
