SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Storyboard Animatic Shows Berserker Spidey Fighting Mysterio
Spider-Man: No Way Home could have involved so many different things! I loved what we ended up getting, though, as it was so cool to see Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s versions of Spider-Man back in action! It was also great to see that villain lineup of Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Sandman, and Electro. But, there was another villain that almost showed up in the movie, and that was Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio.
There were even scenes planned for the character and Marvel artist Phil Langone revealed an awesome storyboard animatic that reveals how one of the scenes with him would have played out and it involved Spider-Man going berserker mode on him!
The scene, which was obviously scrapped, would have taken place after the death of Aunt May. Langone explains:
"This version happened under an elevated train next to Peter's school. JJ Jameson is a TMZ style street reporter. Part of the idea being explored was Spidey is one of the strongest superheroes, but he holds back because he doesn't want to kill anyone. But what would it sort of look like if Spidey went berserker mode. Kind of never finished, but was fun to play with. There's another half to this where Spidey wails on the fishbowl."
This looks like it would have been a cool scene! I get why they cut it, but seeing Spider-Man go berserker mode like this would have been awesome! Check it out and tell us what you think!
