SPIDER-MAN Spinoff Movie SILVER SABLE Writer Says She Left the Project and Never Heard Another Update on It
There are so many characters and stories within the Spider-Man universe, and seven years ago, we first started reporting on the Silver and Sable movie news that was coming out of Sony. First there was going to be a movie with the two characters, then two separate movies featuring each of their storylines, then it was considered that the studio may turn the stories into a series, and rumors flitted back and forth between TV and film projects before dying out for good.
Now we have word from the upcoming Pet Sematary: Bloodlines co-writer and director, Lindsey Anderson Beer, in which she clarifies her departure from the Sony project, telling ComicBook:
"It was something that Sony was looking at and then, as far as I know, is not currently developing. I had to hop off that to another project at the time. I was only on it as -- people hire writers as, it's called a 'weekly,' I was helping them out. But yeah, I'm not sure."
Anderson Beer isn't the only filmmaker formerly involved and unaware of the status, as Gina Prince-Bythewood, who had previously been attached to the Silver & Black movie, shared back in 2020 that she was also oblivious to the spinoff's plans.
"I really love that project, and I do hope it can still happen in some way. It keeps going through different thoughts," she recalled to The Hollywood Reporter. "First, it was going to be the two of them, and then the decision was made to separate the two ... Now, there's a thought of, 'Hey, maybe we put it on Disney+ as a limited series,' but I loved it more as a film with the two of them. So, my hope is that one day it can still happen."
It looks like it just wasn’t meant to be at this point in time. Would you like to see a Silver and Black project happen someday?
