Director Spike Jonze to Be IMAX's First Artist in Residence

Imax Entertainment has found its first artist in residence in Spike Jonze. Jonze is a director known for films such as Being John Malkovich and Her along with several music videos from a variety of artists.

According to Variety, his new role as an artist in residence will be to help find “new and innovative ways” to use IMAX screens, with an emphasis in what to do outside of big movie seasons like the summer and holidays when big blockbusters are released. President of Imax Entertainment, Megan Colligan, said:

When Spike and I sat down to talk about this, the ideas just flowed organically. He has a real sense of what’s happening in the culture and he’s been operating on the cutting edge of a lot of different spaces.

In addition to finding new ways to use IMAX theaters, Jonze is also at work finding more people to join him as an artist in residence.
