Spike Lee is Not Going To Direct The Adaptation of Marvel's NIGHTWATCH

Earlier this year is was reported that Spike Lee was looking at directing a film adaptation of Marvel’s Nightwatch for Sony Pictures. But the director has confirmed that he has decided not to do it.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, the director was asked if he was directing the film, and he gave a very profound answer… “Nah.”

It would have been interesting to see Lee take on Nightwatch. He’s a solid director and the last movie he made, BlacKkKlansman, was such a great and fantastically made film!

Looks like Sony is back on the hunt for a director. The script for the film is being written by Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker. If you’re not familiar with Nightwatch, he is a lesser known Marvel character and has only made a small number of appearances in the comics. He had his own comic in the 90s but it didn't last long because the character looked way too similar to Spawn. Here are the details on the origin of the character:

After witnessing a man in a dark costume lose his life in a battle with a group of terrorists, the life of Dr. Kevin Trench would never be the same. He unmasked the lifeless body only to find that it was an older version of himself.

In a panic, he stripped his older self of the costume and went into hiding on an island. In a bid to avoid his violent death, he decided that if he never put on the suit, he could avoid his destiny.

So, what does he do? He puts on the suit which gives him enhanced abilities, such as shapeshifting and invisibility and becomes a superhero!

With Lee not directing Nightwatch, who else do you think would be a good choice to take it on?
