SQUID GAME Season 2 Is Netflix’s Biggest TV Debut Ever

The highly-anticipated second season of Netflix's Squid Game has shattered records, debuting with an unprecedented 68 million views within its first four days.

This achievement solidifies the show as Netflix’s biggest TV debut ever, outpacing the previous record set by Wednesday, which had 50.1 million views in its first week in 2022.

I just finished watching all of the episodes that have been released so far and so far, it’s been a great edge of your seat series that I’ve enjoyed and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story come to an end.

Not only did Squid Game Season 2 dominate its opening week, but it also quickly entered Netflix’s Top 10 most popular non-English language series of all time, securing the No. 7 spot. This ranking is based on a series' first 91 days of viewership, meaning Season 2 has plenty of time to climb higher.

The original Squid Game season, with a staggering 265.2 million views, still holds the top position on the chart, which is a milestone Season 2 could challenge.

Season 1 of Squid Game also experienced a resurgence, drawing 8.1 million views during the same week, making it the No. 3 non-English TV show for the week of December 23–29.

The success of Season 2 crowned it as Netflix’s most-watched title of the week, surpassing other high-profile releases like Taron Egerton’s action film Carry-On (34.9 million views) and Tyler Perry’s historical drama The Six Triple Eight (23.3 million views).

The series is set three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the states and comes back with a new resolution in his mind.

“Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”

Fans of the series are eagerly awaiting what twists and turns the series has in store as it continues to dominate screens.
