STAR TREK 3 Might Be Titled STAR TREK BEYOND

The title of the next Star Trek film may have been reveled thanks to the folks over at StarTrek.com. According to the site, Star Trek 3 will be called Star Trek Beyond. They found that the title has been registered with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). This is a good sign that an official title has been settled on, but you never know with Bad Robot Productions, as they like to keep things secret and mislead fans. So since this name is not 100% confirmed, it could be a decoy.

It would make sense, though, if the title was Star Trek Beyond. After all, it's been previously stated that this will be the first of the newer Star Trek films to be set in deep space, so they will be going beyond anywhere they've been before. When Roberto Orci was working on the project he explained:

"They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space."

Simon Pegg is currently co-writing the script for the new film with Doug Jung, and in a recent interview with Den of Geek he said:

"So for me it’s now about the spirit of adventure and exploration and also, in modern terms, just how would that be for people, to be away for that amount of time and that kind of stuff."

Pegg wants to take the franchise back to its roots, and said in a separate interview with The Guardian:

“And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation. But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment.”

With all of that explanation of where the next adventure is going, Star Trek Beyond is definitely an appropriate title, if it's real. I've really loved the first two films that were developed by Abrams, but its good to know that this third one is finally going to break free and take the fans into uncharted territory where no man has gone before. I'm looking forward to it!

Justin Lin is directing the film, and it will include the core cast of the past two films, along with Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, and others. The film will be released on July 8th, 2016
