STAR TREK BEYOND is Reportedly Struggling To Meet Paramount's Box Office Expectations

Star Trek Beyond may be one of the best critically rated films at the box office this summer, but it's taking a real beating financially. According to Trek News, the film sits at $198.2 million, which is above its budget of $185 million but still not enough for Paramount's liking. Supposedly, the film will need to make around $300 million for Paramount to label the film a success. With a 48% drop in sales during its second week, it doesn't seem likely it'll hit that mark.

I think that's a shame! This was far and away my favorite Star Trek film of the series and I think more people should see it. Then again, if I hadn't had a free ticket at SDCC I probably would've waited for Blu-ray, so I understand the apprehension of people. The Star Trek films are good, no doubt, but do people think they're must-see movies? I'm not so sure.
