STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Producers Explain Why Klingons Look Completely Different
The Klingons are going to cause drama in the galaxy once again in Star Trek: Discovery, and maybe even among some die-hard Star Trek fans. That's probably because in the CBS All Access show, the normally ridge foreheaded aliens look a lot different than Star Trek fans are used to.
EW reports that Discovery showrunner Aaron Harberts said that original series showrunner Bryan Fuller wanted to update the look of the Klingons and was involved in the redesign. He also explained that the Klingons have frequently changed over the franchise’s 52 years.
"In the different versions of Trek, the Klingons have never been completely consistent. We will introduce several different houses with different styles. Hopefully, fans will become more invested in the characters than worried about the redesign."
Discovery's first episode will air on CBS and stream on CBS All-Access Sunday, September 24. The second half of Season 1 will be pushed to January 2018.
What do you guys think of the redesign?
