STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS Reveals Character Info, Cast, and Story Details

The epic Star Trek panel that opened up Hall H on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con covered all of the upcoming projects in the Star Trek Universe. One exciting project is the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks being written by Mike McMahan, writer and producer of Rick and Morty. He explained that he is a lifelong Trek fan and this is pretty much his dream to make this animated series. It follows the crew of a not so important ship in the star fleet, and sounds like it will be really funny. The producers compared the series to a Downton Abbey in space.

The cast for the series includes Tawny Newsome (Brockmire), Noël Wells (Master of None), Eugene Cordero (The Good Place), Jack Quaid (Rampage, Logan Lucky), Dawnn Lewis (Veronica Mars), Jerry O’Connell (Jerry Maguire), Fred Tatasciore (American Dad!), and Gillian Vigman (The Hangover).

The cast and crew really sounded excited about this series. It sounds really funny, and with all the Rick and Morty fans out there, I’m sure it will have a huge following ready to check it out. Star Trek: Lower Decks already has a two season order, and will be hitting CBS All Access sometime next year. Are you excited about this series?!
