STAR TREK: PICARD Season Finale Will Pass the Torch to a New Generation
I’m pretty excited about seeing most of the crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation reunite for the season final of Star Trek: Picard.
Patrick Stewart returns to the role of Picard and he will be reuniting with Jonathan Frakes as William T. Riker, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, Brent Spiner as Data, LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forg, Michael Dorn as Worf, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker, Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher, and Jeri Ryan as Commander Seven of Nine.
Well, it turns out that the season finale will pass the baton to another generation. This bit of news comes from showrunner Terry Matalas, who said that the season will feature a moment that will hand the reins off to this new generation.
Matalas shared this news during the Star Trek: Picard portion of the Star Trek Universe panel and NYCC. According to CB: “A fan asked Matalas about the possibility of Picard's final season having such a moment, in which the TNG crew would pass the torch to the new generation of captains, noting its difficulty given that the current crop of Star Trek shows is spread out through periods of time. Matalas offered no details but did confirm that such a scene is in store.”
It’ll be interesting to see who the torch will be passed to and I imagine this will lead to another Star Trek series. But, we’ll just have to wait and see!
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 debuts on Paramount+ on February 16th.
