STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS Season 3 Sets Course for July Premiere

The U.S.S. Enterprise is almost ready to warp back into action. Paramount+ has officially locked in the premiere date for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, and fans won’t have to wait too long to rejoin Captain Pike and his crew.

The third season will kick off on July 17, debuting with two episodes, then continuing weekly every Thursday through to the season finale on September 11. The streaming platform has also confirmed that Season 4 is already in production, so there’s more exploration on the horizon.

According to the official Season 3 synopsis:

“When we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike (Anson Mount), they face the conclusion of season two’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve.”

Returning to the bridge are series regulars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, and Martin Quinn.

This season’s guest lineup includes some notable names: Rhys Darby, Patton Oswalt, Cillian O’Sullivan, Melanie Scrofano, and Carol Kane, plus a special return from Paul Wesley as Lt. James T. Kirk.

Behind the scenes, Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers are back as co-showrunners. The executive producer roster includes familiar Trek architects like Alex Kurtzman, Goldsman, Myers, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth, with production handled by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment.

Right now, Strange New Worlds is holding down the fort as the only active Star Trek series on Paramount+, following the finales of Discovery and Lower Decks. But reinforcements are coming. The highly anticipated Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series is on the way. There’s no premiere date yet, but a second season is already in development.

With its mix of classic Star Trek spirit and fresh storytelling, Strange New Worlds has quickly become a fan favorite series.
