STAR TREK Veteran Nicholas Meyer is Reportedly Developing a New Series Focused on Khan
Earlier this summer a rumor surfaced that writer and director Nicholas Meyer was developing a new Star Trek series separate from Star Trek: Discovery. Meyer has worked on Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. He also worked on Discovery, so it's pretty exciting that this Star Trek veteran could be developing a new series.
What's even more exciting is that this new rumored series might focus on Khan! The news comes from GeekExchange, who offers the following details on what the series will be about:
Meyer’s new project takes him back to Khan Noonien Singh, the “genetically superior” villain played by Ricardo Montalban in the original series episode “Space Seed” and in The Wrath of Khan, and by Benedict Cumberbatch in the J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Trek Into Darkness. Meyer will reportedly be developing a prequel miniseries, or limited series that would take place on Ceti Alpha V and chronicle Khan and his followers struggling to survive in the years between when Kirk dropped him off on the planet at the end of “Space Seed” and when the crew of the U.S.S. Reliant finds them early in The Wrath of Khan.
That would certainly make a fascinating series that I'd want to watch. The Wrath of Khan is easily my favorite Star Trek movie and seeing a series that would tell the past story of Khan would be pretty awesome.
There's no confirmation that any of this is true but the site claims that the information came from two separate sources. I hope it's true! I'd love to see Meyer play with the character Khan a little more in the Star Trek universe!
